Food for thought on the last day of Dusshera

Navarathri is so much fun with friends and relatives visiting each other, eating Sundal and sweets and exchanging gifts 🎁 . All this makes the action-filled festival even more gay and colourful. Colourful reminds me of food 😋😋😋😋. Again 🤗

Since food is always a topic we can’t stop discussing about, let’s talk about food again. We are what we eat. Interesting links can be established between Navarathri and food. As the seasons in India dictate the choice of food, Navarathri indicates the choice of a Sundal as a nutritious evening snack that is quick to make and big in nutrition due to its high protein content. Nouveau families now serve sprouts Sundal too. Times are ushering in innovative healthy ideas 💡🌶🍅🍆🥒.

Looking at the forces in nature that bring out a positive change in individuals, we find the energy -giving Factor,  the growth factor and the protector of all that has been earned so far . Well, does that ring a 🛎 bell ?

Yes, the goddesses rule our food plate too. Shakthi, the energy giver – that rules during the first phase indicates all food that provide us energy. The carbohydrates and fats. 🍚🍲🥜🍱The food that fuels growth are the proteins from pulses, dairy, meat and poultry🥚🥛🍤.The Lakshmi of Navarathri are these. Finally, the last three days which signify the nuances of learning, of  how to protect and nourish all that we earn like the vitamins and minerals, which though present in small amounts are extremely essential in using the first two food groups🥗🥙🌽🥕wisely.  A time to start thinking and learning how our plate must be filled balancing food in the optimal way to maximise its potential.

So, let’s promise ourselves to eat responsibly and choose healthy food as we learnt our lessons on this perfect Vijayadashami day.

Here’s wishing you a happy eating and a happy living✨😁
