Coconut Sugar is a natural sugar made from coconut sap, which is the sugary circulating fluid of the coconut plant. Many might have a question on how it tastes/ will it have a coconut taste ? To be clear it tastes like a regular sugar .

Coconut Sugar vs Regular refined white Sugar

Regular refined white sugar do not retain any vital nutrients and therefore supply “empty” calories.

However, coconut sugar does retain quite a bit of the nutrients found in the coconut palm.

The glycemic index (GI) is a measure of how quickly foods raise blood sugar levels. Coconut sugar has low glycemic index.

Coconut sugar has some amount of Inulin , which is a specific fiber that helps in improving gut health and slows glucose absorption.

Conclusion

Finally , since coconut sugar is not refined and retains some nutrients compared to regular white sugar, this can be a good alternate for a healthy diet.

Coconut Sugar can be widely used in baking as well, which gives a nice flavour to the baked foods.

Description

Coconut sugar (also known as coco sugarcoconut palm sugarcoco sap sugar is a palm sugar produced from the sap of the flower bud stem of the coconut palm.100% Natural Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener – Divine leaves. Ideal for diabetic management. Divine leaves offer Stevia Sugar free Sweetener which are 100% Natural and 100% safe

It comes from a natural source, the sap of the coconut palm. This sap circulates through the tree in a similar way to maple syrup.

To harvest coconut palm sap, farmers cut into the flower-bud stem of the tree to allow the nectar to flow out. To make coconut flower nectar, they then mix the sap with water and boil it down to a syrup.

Producers make granulated coconut sugar by leaving

the nectar to dry and crystallize. They then break the dried chunks apart to create the granules most people recognize.

It has a similar look and feel to unprocessed raw sugar, but it may have more natural variants, such as light or dark granules or fluctuations in granule size.

Some people confuse with palm sugar. While they have a similar production process, palm sugar comes from a different tree.

What else is there to know about coconut sugar?

According to the above analysis of coconut palm sap, it contains some inulin, whereas table sugar and corn syrup do not.

Inulin is a specific fiber that may be beneficial to the body, helping improve gut health and slowing glucose absorption.

It is, however, important to note

that the quantities of beneficial compounds may be small, and a person would have to eat a lot of sweet to get a healthy dose of them.

Also, because it is still high in calories and sugars, eating a lot would mean significant excess energy consumption, leading to potential weight gain.
